My thoughts

Well I figured I should have a say in this blog too..........

First let me say that my wife did an amazing job with the website and secondly that until the end of May......dont tell my parents we re did the bathroom. this is why....well heck lets start from the beginning.

It is my full belief that my parents want to be interior decorators. So when I finally bought a house (with huge help from them) they were...needless to say...overjoyed to help me paint and decorate. While everything in the house is my "taste" it was my moms "placement"....you know the that looks good there....but better over here. And that is why the house has always looked great. Secondly, all the sweat in the house makeovers has been my dads....minus the painting of the ceiling trim in the living room, that was all my back...he has been gracious enough to help since I am still biulding my handy man skills. With out them the house would have looked like no one lived in it before I met Bailey.

Now it seems like everytime they come into town.....we decide to do a project "oh that will be easy"....literally. This is how the weekend goes.....with no planning.....mom and dad in friday night....dinner....oh lets work on this tomorrow....dad and I up...go to lowes (1st time) come back start....oops we need something else...go to lowes (2nd)...come back...realize that its not gonna be easy (story to follow).....cant stop....gotta go to lowes to get something we didnt think we would need (3rd)....come back...mom and bailey bring lunch...start again...realize that the box/equipment that is provided wasnt in fact provided.....go to lowes to scavenge through boxes (4th).....got to get ready for church....I have to open...i always have to open when they are here (and we are in the middle of project). Go to church, go to eat....dad and I pass out cause we are tired.....go to church sunday (unless mom subs for me with the kids) come back, try to finish project that we thought would take 3-4 hours by the time they need to leave to go home......total project time at least 10-12 hours.....oh and like 2 more trips to lowes....(5th and 6th). But its done and looks great

Just and idea of what happens .....abbreviated....

Project - hang the tv
idea....mount it on the wall...run cables through wall....be done.....estimated time....2-3 hours TOPS
1st problem
Studs are normally set distance apart from each other....i didnt know this, but dad did.
They are not! So we find one and calculate that with the size screw....we should be fine with one! Mount the bracket.....go to cut small hole in wall to run cables through....ooh...another stud...ok...go to feed wires ...uh..another stud...feed more...what..a stud...feed more...YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!...stud

reasoning:
Studs were not set distances...one would be 6 inches another 12 another 4.....so we ended up cuting about a 12-20 inch hole in the wall....all while my mom and bailey looked on, probablly horrified and my dad and I both silently thinking (for the most part) DONT__ SAY__ A WORD!!!!!

Now we have to patch up the hole and total finish time including mudding the wall and me painting it a couple of times (which it actually need more of still) is about a week (see estimated time above)!

now back to the original idea.....Bailey and I redid the bathroom on our own....and we didnt kill each other....almost but not quite....without telling my parents...b/c they think that they need to help us when they come down next! Which may be why they havnt been back in awhile!! We are going to suprise them by just hanging out with them when they come....no projects......we think!

With all of that being said....lets just thank my parents for helping us have a comfortable home.....and thanks to Bailey for helping me as being my "placer" now....once again you know...that looks good there, but better here! Without her taste and levelness....our house would be in shambles......cause actually the only thing that i have hung or placed in the house without her final approval is well......crooked...just by an 1/8th of an inch and I am fully convinced that it was god saying..."dude, you need to ask your wife how this looks before you screw that into the wall"

God bless

Jonathan

our house

Ok, so we've been married for nine months today, and I am finally getting around to letting everyone see our adorable house (if you ever hear me talk badly about our house...remind me how cute it is and how blessed we are to have a house this wonderful). I tend to get frustrated with the fact we don't have much storage, but I think the real problem is me letting go of some stuff, and only keeping what we need. Enough said about all that!! Here is the house....
and incase you're wondering...YES, that is an LSU flag hanging on our porch! Here is what you see as you walk in the front door...
It is our living room, which leads into our HUGE dining room ;) if that is what you call it, into our kitchen. The door behind the chair goes into the guest bedroom...we'll get to that in a minute! Here are a couple of more views of the living room...
Putting the TV on the wall was Jonathan's idea, and he and his dad worked hard to get it up there. It really made the room look bigger. It also helps that we have lofted ceilings, so that makes it look bigger as well. Here are some more pictures of our kitchen/laundry room...Jonathan and his dad (really his dad) hung the wall paper in the kitchen.
You've got it, that's our washer and dryer...right there in the kitchen. We probably always smell like food. But that's okay, it could be worse.

So moving on into the bedrooms...(for those of you that didn't know this, Jonathan bought this house and did most the decorating in it before we met). My one request was that we paint the bedroom a baby blue color...for my Tarheel fan husband, this wasn't an issue. So for this room, we actually have some before and after pictures:

Before:
It was tan, and had mirror sliding closet doors.

After:
We made it blue, with yellow in the little tray in the ceiling. We changed the mirrors to the wooden doors in the picture. After the bedroom pictures, are a couple of pictures of our master bathroom. We redid this (actually all by ourselves). We don't have the before pictures, but I like it alot better!

For those that don't already think/know this, let me go ahead and admit that I am spoiled...between my curved shower rod, and my great shower head...I love my shower.
Next stop the guest bedroom and bathroom...our house is 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom. Each room has its own bathroom (no hallways).

We also have a cute little porch that overlooks our side yard (Bristol loves laying in the sun). That is our neighbor's house you see, so it is very small. We have quite the herb garden. Jonathan loves to go get his fresh parsley, and can't wait for his rosemary to look the same way.

Oh and if you haven't met him...here is our wonderful puppy, Bristol. The picture of him laying on the porch is my proof that he can be still. He's slightly hyper, and I find myself telling people all the time, "He really can be calm."
Okay, so that's it for the tour today! Hope you feel like you've been in our world a little bit!

and it all begins

So we begin here with our family's first little blog. I am anxious to display some pictures, both of us, and some of the work we've been doing to our cute little house. We work hard to try to make it look good, even with the lack of storage space! Since we got married in July 2007, Jonathan has been eager to help me settle in and make it feel like it is "ours," and not just his (he owned this house when we got married). He has really helped me to understand and grab hold of the fact that this is truly our family's home! Be on the look out for pictures!
